So why doesn’t Trump want people to see his tax returns? In all likelihood it is because he is not worth nearly as much as he boasts.
“Trump” is a brand that means wealth and success. His tax return would likely damage that brand.
The illusion that one is more successful than he really is is not an uncommon device among the wealthy. It’s also a tactic used by corporations (especially publicly traded ones). They seem to be pillars of success until they literally come tumbling down and we learn that they had been in trouble for some time.
Being a Christian, I offer no defense for this practice. “Thou shalt not lie.”
That said, your tax returns are your private business and there is no requirement that politicians make their’s publicly available. This business with Trump’s filings are nothing more than the continued assault by the Left to find anything they can to progress their narrative for a victory in 2020.
I find it all so ironic. I was opposed to Trump in the last election because, based upon his history before his presidency, he was not a conservative. Now, as a president with a track record, he has been among the most conservative presidents of the last one hundred years.
So what happened? Did Trump have a change of heart? No. The irony is that the Left flipped out when Clinton lost and waged this war on Trump and Trump reacted as his ego demanded. Trump has stood against the Left because they not only did not flatter him, but because they unceasingly attacked him.
In this way, the Left created the most conservative president of our lifetime. The irony.
